In 2016, Xytech completed the most ambitious, complex and comprehensive project of its 28-year history: The completion and delivery of a MediaPulse solution to power the massive scheduling logistics of NBC Sports Olympics Broadcast efforts. The solution is built upon a production platform used by NBC Sports to manage the remote crew of its NFL, Golf, NASCAR, NHL, Tennis and Thoroughbred Racing broadcasts.
NBC Sports required a robust solution to manage all logistical aspects of getting large production and support crews to and from sporting events all over the world. The Olympic games are a prime focus as NBC Sports populate the host city with all the elements of television production and event management. Over 4,500 staff needs to be hired, provided with a visa and event credentials, booked with transportation and a hotel, scheduled to venues and broadcast centers, and of course paid from any of a host union and agent negotiated pay contracts. Eventually 4,551 staff were provisioned across 42 sports in 34 venues producing 6,755 hours of broadcast content through 11 networks and 40 streaming channels.
MediaPulse was selected to work with multiple partners to create a solution providing a fully directed workflow for a specialized process with the flexibility to adapt to a changing landscape. MediaPulse exchanges information with multiple travel systems, enterprise accounting systems, HR and payroll systems, employee training and telecom asset management systems. The solution further manages an internal inventory of thousands of hotel rooms to give NBC Sports Planners a view of where each team member is housed and where in the overall on boarding process they are. This enables the team get all crew members safely to the far corners of the sporting world and back again.
Xytech architects, designers and developers worked tirelessly with NBC Sports for over 2 years to conceive, design, build and deploy the system for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and to the full constellation of sporting events brought to you by NBC Sports. We plan to see MediaPulse managing Olympics games far into the future.
